2018 Lorie's Lakeside Century

Saturday, September 15th, 2018

Lorie’s Lakeside Century is for experienced riders, novices, individuals and groups – with routes of 28, 38, 65, 75 and 100 miles.  It’s a tour, not a race, so you can ride at any pace you choose.  The terrain is flat to gently rolling, hilly but no “killers.”  All routes travel to Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Ride through Victorian-era towns and farmland on scenic back roads and enjoy incredible views along Lake Michigan.  Rest and re-group at sag stops that highlight some of the spots we treasure.  And experience Hoosier Hospitality at its finest!

Thank you for cycling and helping others!

Lorie's Lakeside Century raises funding for LIVESTRONG at the YMCA which provides cancer warriors with a 12-week, zero cost program to help them regain their health and support their family. Open to all, the program is available for adult cancer survivors who participate in a health and fitness program. Certified YMCA instructors help patients build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve energy levels and self-esteem.The Valparaiso Family YMCA is committed to strengthening our community through inclusive programs and services like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. Youth development, healthy living and social responsibilty are the base of all programing, services and events, like Lorie's Ride, that bring adults, children and families together for better health and overall well-being. If you are interested in finding out more about our program, please email Brittany Tripp at btripp@valpoymca.org.

The tour continues in memory of Lorie Kirkley, and proceeds will benefit the VALPARAISO FAMILY YMCA chronic disease programs supporting healthy lifestyes. The community chairperson, Jim Spanopoulos, began the ride more than 26 years ago and will continue to chair the committee in cooperation with the Valparaiso Family YMCA.
